PDC Provides a new look
All Saints Church in Kingston upon Thames was built in the twelfth century and possesses some beautiful architectural features and a wonderful atmosphere; both of which are captured in the two Christmas card designs that they asked us to produce for them.
The brief was to take a painting by one of the parishioners and retain it’s atmospheric appeal in bringing it to printed form; the second design was to feature a photograph of part of the stained glass window in the south transept, a beautifully detailed window over one hundred years old.
The purpose of the project was to sell packs of cards and hence raise money for church funds whilst providing card buyers with beautiful designs to send to friends and relatives. Local people know how well All Saints serves as a community hub, hosting meetings, celebrations and cultural events, whilst retaining it’s place as a place of worship and prayer and a place to find a moment’s peace. So, sales of a well-realised card were likely to be good.
PDC took the original painting to scan and along with the photograph carried out checks, conversion processes and adjustments to make sure that the images printed were shown in a realistic and well displayed way. There are several technicalities to be mastered to achieve this and our years of experience and the skills of our graphic designer are were put to good use.
As well as electronic processing of the images the paper stock used for printing will have an effect on image reproduction and we were able to provide consultancy to the project co-ordinator thus enabling a choice of material and print processes to suit the required style as well as achieving good visual quality. This is not to ignore the economic side of the project; the finished cards have to deliver value for money to the card buyers and some useful funds to the church itself, so PDC’s understanding of how materials, processes and project scale affect this can be very helpful to our clients. Finally, PDC ensured that cards were packed in a way that displayed them beautifully and made convenient packs for sale.
“Working closely with All Saints Church meant we could give them affordable options for the design, printing and packing and help them maximize the potential of their Christmas card sales,” said PDC Proprietor Robin Randall.

PDC Provides a new look
“Our charity has a reputation for providing members of the disabled community with the possibility to fulfill their potential. It was important that Vital Link continued to be an accessible and informative newsletter, but with a fresh new style that kept our readers fully engaged,”
The Epsom based Christian disability charity Through the Roof (TTR) has been putting out their brilliant newsletter Vital Link for over 15 years. So it was a great pleasure when they asked PDC to help rebrand and modernize the regular journal that we design and print for them. TTR gave us a brief that involved an updated design which retained the original spirit of their brand but gave it a modern and spacious feel.
“Our charity has a reputation for providing members of the disabled community with the possibility to fulfill their potential. It was important that Vital Link continued to be an accessible and informative newsletter, but with a fresh new style that kept our readers fully engaged,” said C.E.O. Tim Wood.
PDC consulted closely to understand TTR’s target audience and the aims of the newsletter in order to employ the right graphic styles to engage the audience. We then provided TTR with three new possible designs and layouts, varying from a mild update to a completely modernized re-brand and in full colour.
The ideas presented enabled them to consider how members would perceive the charity and to select exactly the right combination of traditional values and forward thinking.
“Working closely with TTR meant we could give them affordable options for their redesign and future print runs to include and help them maximize the potential of their newsletter,” PDC Proprietor Robin Randall said. This included “stochastic screening” a market leading print technology which provides near photographic print quality.
